Its not cricket!

One of life's little mysteries is the way the English treat failure in the world of sport.

If a football team get a run of failures, Out Goes the Manager! If the England cricket team falls, Out Goes the ...............Captain. Why?

I can understand the football side, after all the manager picks the team. In cricket the selectors pick the team, the captain, and just give the captain the job of making a silk purse out of a sows ear.

I realise it's not within the scope of your post, Ken - sorry about that - but do you have any explanation for the goings-on reported on Michael Child's blog?

Are there papers circulating that cast doubt on the integrity of your Party's leadership locally? Is there a police investigation going on? Have some junior Tory councillors signed a letter withdrawing support from the Cabinet?

Given your usual wish to be politically topical, surely you must have something to say about this apparent Tory crisis in Thanet?

I appreciate your interest anon 10 10, however I would be a pretty carp party member if I got involved in a public disscussion before I knew the facts. I try not to do that at planning, and within the political sphere. It may be frustrating to you, but when I know the facts I will comment. I hope you appreciate that. PS can we now get back on thread?

Fair response, Ken, if you are out of the loop at this stage - I only asked. Sorry, but I can't get "back on thread" as I know b***er all about football or cricket!

As a Labour party member I think that the Labour group on TDC should support Alistair Bruce as Leader, and we should invite him to the join the our group because he is already doing a good job speaking out against conservative interests

but surely shouldn't he be speaking outfor thanet, not any political group, oh, i forgot he stood as a conservative.

Your Party may be riding high nationally, Ken, while Labour are in the mire, but locally, you Tories appear to be in meltdown. Perhaps some statements are needed sooner rather than later to address the clamouring?

Actually, Anon, what I would much rather see is a local administration in Thanet - which I recognise will be Tory because they emerged as the largest party at the last election - managing the area well and earning respect.

Sadly, with leadership behaviour of the kind we have seen over the last year (foul language at public events, attacks in the street on those collecting a petition, and now "Chinagate") respect is, understandably, in very short supply. Instead of attracting interest in and concern for Thanet's issues and problems, and prompting debate about those, the focus is always on the antics of its political leadership. This does no good for the area, which is a tragedy.

I know Ken cannot comment, but the Tory group on the council needs to address the real problem and refresh its leadership.
