Local Drugs Company cuts Jobs

Pfizer are to cut jobs again, Any truth in the rumour that the entire site was built with a view to sell off in small factory units.
Does this damage their reputation as a good employer? Or is this situation the blame of the mishandled economy?

I assume you mean Pfizer.

Well spotted and so quickly. Thanks for the proof read.

I feel sorry for Dr Steve Ladyman, who was probably hoping that Pfizer would give him his old job back when he looses his seat at the next election; it was bad enough for him when our unlected Prime Minister sacked him from the back bench.

In the UK, we elect a political party to government, not its leader. We never elect a Prime Minister. Gordon Brown is in the same position as John Major when the latter succeeded Margaret Thatcher.

As for the local situation, my only real regret at Ladyman going is the thought that the ghastly and awful Sandys will be there instead. If ever there was a crying need for a brain to mouth connection, she provides it.

One of the blue-rinse Tory brigade told me Ms. Sandys reminded her of when she was 18 years old -knew all the questions but none of the answers or solutions and that from a life-long Tory who won't be voting for Ms. Sandys in the election despite living in S. Thanet.

No Ken, not a mishandled economy just "market forces", the forces that you Tories are all in favour of - until they hurt you or yours.

When Blair was elected, the people knew that by voting Labour they would get him as PM - thats what I mean wise guy. The people NEVER elected this government under dead beat Brown and never will; John Major went on to win in his own right- anyone with half a brain knew what I meant.

As for Ms Sandys she has not yet been tested as an MP, so you are unwise to pre-judge her; however, we have already seen how ghastly and awful Ladyman can be; even the appointed (NOT CHOSEN BY THE BRITISH PEOPLE)dead beat PM thought Ladyman was so ghastly and awful that he kicked him off the front bench.

The people will decide - they are fed up with having a PM that looks like silly a boy and runs about like a headless chicken all the time.

Hugin...
Its not the sytem's fault that you've got nowhere in life.
Before you say otherwise - I know you!

It is a shame that those of you who choose - as you are of course free to do - to support a right-wing or pro-Tory stance - cannot do so without recourse to insult. It is a persistent and sad trait of so many of you.

"Wise guy"..."half a brain"... are examples in just this thread. The retort to Hugin is equally typical.

To Anon 20.56, you might wish to twiast your point now to try to make it right, but the Major/Brown analogy is accurate. Both inherited the Prime Ministerial role from others who were kicked out/stood down. Major eventually went on to fight an election; Brown will presumably do the same. If the people reject him, that is democracy. What you "meant" was simply to attempt to deliver a swipe at the present Government. I suggest you choose stronger ground.

As you know me, anon 21.04, you'll know that I've done well for myself. Give me a call and we can talk about old times.

Sorry for calling you a wise guy. How about self-styled omniscient person.

Hugin=0

I'm not a Tory.
I am proud to belong to UKIP; the Tories are not right wing enough for me, although I was a Liberal before I grew up.

What is this thread about again ?

Pfizer, got it.

As you know, as the result of an FOI, an "Appropriate" team from the Environment Agency are supposed to be investigating whether the Pfizer development site contractual weld standards were dumbed down rather than re-work to original standards.

There has been a doubt about the long term plan for the site for a long time because of that suspicion.

I can tell you that Pfizer have failed to acknowledge or reply to correspondence on the subject.

Anon 14.13, why not just express your opinions politely and in a measured way. Be robust by all means, but just avoid personal remarks. Job done.

Anon15:13 just looked on Laura Sandys website she appears to be a fine replacement for the Unfortunate Mr Ladyman. I still cant get over his stance to me re people using moble phones whilst driving I cant answer your correspondence direct it through your own MP Roger Gale. that showed me he wasnt worried about local matters but pushing his career forwards. Good Job the people who are at Pfizers dont have him as there MP WELL WAIT A MINUTE THEY DO never heard a thing from him about anything Local and if you want to get a reply about anything like redundancies he will tell you go through your own MP perhaps he will have forgotten he is their MP
Not like me to knock anyone but Mr Ladyman is a special exeption if you behave like a fool you will be seen as a fool

Don, local MPs are not allowed - by standing convention - to answer queries, complaints etc from constitutents living in other Members' constituencies. Dr Ladyman was quite right to say what he did to you. Mr Gale would have said the same if you lived in Thanet South and wrote to him.

As for Ms Sandys, she has shown herself through her local interventions to have a limited grasp on fact or reality. She comes across as a self-publicist of little substance. She will be a disater for Thanet South.

I look forward to having a complete disater as an MP. It will be at least one constinant better than the disaster that we have at present

Ken

You may recall me describing the Bizz Fizz initiative ?

Bizz Fizz at Hastings

I don't think you got one in Thanet.

There are 31 schemes running.

IF Thanet is not in on this then they should be.

If you put someone in economic regeneration on to researching this ?

Anyone reading your blog who is on benefits, or facing redundancy, and thinks they cannot go self employed should check Bizz Fizz out.

I will be writing a case study with no names. This is potentially a study to be used in a presentation to those who advise govt on back to work policy for unemployed.

When I have got a first draft (We are waiting to see how the case develops) I will email you a copy to your cllr email.

This scheme is smack on our politics. Enable and help those who help themselves. In my opinion it is brilliantly conceived.

Best wishes Retired Rick

Former Pfizer employee Dr Stephen Ladyman MP voted very strongly for the Iraq war.

Ms Sandys is against the Iraq war, and was from the start.
