Vanishing Bloggers

I am sad to see that a couple of our long established bloggers are 'mothballing' their keyboards for the time being. I may not have agreed with either of them all the time, but their views were always worth a read.

I hope they will be back soon.

Ps the picture is called 'Vanishing Giants'

I will miss ECR. He is a master of his craft and an excellent catalyst man. Thanet Online is the gravitas but I wonder if Michael's hit rate will fall without the clickies and references from ECR.

I was hopeful that ECR would pick up the baton from Private Eye who did a report on James Shortt military fantasist who caused the recent Cabinet security fiasco.

There is now a current Thanet police inquiry by Chief Supt Hogben into Mr Shortt's historical access to Deal Royal Marines Barracks and any matters arising in inquiry.

Mr Hogben's inquiry is of interest to a tabloid's Defence Correspondent. Sad that national press interest perked up just as ECR's interest waned as he would have been a valuable read for them.

I wish him well

we'll all miss ECR but just recently he seems to have got quite frayed even delusional if that's possible for a fictitious character, in need of a rest.

Too right Rocky 950 of my single unique visitors came from ECR last month.

I can think of some far more frayed and deluded THanet bloggers than ECR. Some seem to think they are God's gift to journalism, politics, freedom of speech and Kent when they do not even have the first clue, present company excepted. I can think of at least one who seems to have a Napoleon complex but I will not name names.

Let's hope that both decisions are purely personal and not driven by the behaviours of other bloggers. The attitudes that come across from "opponents" - such as the threats of legal action and goodness knows what else from several maniacs last year (we all know who they were/are)- show just how crap things can get.

They seem to plan when they will return long before they choose to vanish - seems to be a bit of a publicty trend set by Dr Moores

You have certainly identified the arch self-publicist there, anon 16.54. Let's hope that the departure of ECR and ECM is merely temporary. Otherwise there is no-one to hold in check the right-wing dogma on local blogs and the insulting intellectual snobbery that is the hallmark of the recently returned "besieged" blogger. Whom will the Tories threaten now?
