Joanna Lumley

Am I the only one who feels that Joanna Lumley and her friend Peter Carol are milking this Ghurka matter a step too far?

Whilst I might be expected to support anything that is uncomfortable for Gordon Brown, I do feel that the right result was achieved, (ie fair treatment for those who fight for this Country). We are now on to the 'Lets get Joanna Lumley elected as a Liberal Democrat' campaign. I cannot help feeling the Ghurka's plight has been hijacked by a political wannabe.

Ken, I think you are worrying yourself needlessly as I doubt if she will be putting herself up for election for the Lib Dems in St Peters in 2011.

Ken interesting analysis spoilt only by the fact Joanna Lumley is a Green Party advocate:

Mark,

It is not unheard of for people to change political parties. Peter Carol is of course a past Lib Dem PPC for Michael Howards Seat.( and a Lib Dem Councillor)

Tony,

Whilst I represent St Peters (other Councillors are available) I do have interest in other areas of life as well.

Ken, its not unheard of for [people to change political allegiance, but Labour to Tory? Socialist to right wing? Come on........

Going from Tory to Green, Labour to Green, or Tory/Labour to Lib Dem. left and right to centre. No problem.

Left to right? Its doesn't happen, and I am astonished that anyone would ever vote for you again.

Dear old smeg.
Churchill springs to mind,as do many others, If a party changes direction as radically as New Labour has become Old Labour again. it must expect to loose some supporters.
And sorry to dissapoint you, but a majority of the voting electorate in my ward did vote for me, after I had changed from centre left to centre right.

ps, for your info, Churchill changed from Liberal to hard right tory, at the time a switch greater than the gap between New Labour and Cameron's Conservatives.

Churchill was a war-mongering drunk.

But he did save this country, and was sober in the morning

Those who fought saved the country. And so did the Americans.

Didnt expect this sort of post from you. A little underhand really. Shes never suggested that she wants anything in addition to what she acheived over the Gurkhas issue. Her friend might well want to get into politics but that would in fact support her getting him involved. Using his contacts to build up support isnt the same as her building a case for party political careering.

I think you are exaggerating this one.

Having met ms Lumley and Mr Carol, I do not think I am 'over egging' this particular subject. Mr Carol 'got' Ms Lumley involved. Their campaign was fully justified, but now lets wait for the next bit.
