Nice try from Gordon Brown to win over the gay man

The gay vote won't save Labour because blue is now the new the pink.

Ken, I thought one had to be an elected MP to be a minister?

He will be made a peer by the Prime Minister and join the Government as Secretary for Business, sitting in the Lords.

Sorry Leo, but the Conservative Party is not sympathetic to gay men and women, and can never be called the "pink party". Too many of the current body of Conservative MPs have steadfastly voted against any measure intended to give equality to gay men and women for the party to claim to have any credibility in that quarter.

We have gay Conservatives MP's and many of the others are ex public school boys and former soldiers who bat for both sides.

May be, 17.23, but that has - traditionally - had little influence on voting behaviour on "gay equality" issues. The need to keep in with the Tory establishment has been a stronger discipline.

Anon 12:42, some established gay rights groups oppose further legislation providing more rights for gays and have said so publicly so your line doesnt really work.

Sorry James, you're missing the point, which is how your party has traditionally acted and reacted on gay eqaulity issues, and - all evidence suggests - it will continue to act.

Why so much interest in the gay issue in politics. Gay Politians is nothing new in any party
