Fly Tipping

I had to drive to Littlebourne this morning. How depressing! The amount of household rubbish 'dumped' at the roadside was staggering!

I suppose the people who dumped it are the same ones who moan when their council tax bills arrive, or those who gripe about how councils fail to serve their residents.

Or who have decided to have no truck with height barriers on the tips.

I could agree with that, except....... it was mostly car boot sized amounts of christmas debris, oh and about forty copies of yellow pages still wrapped in plastic.

I moan when moan when this districts over the top council tax bills comes through my door. I am also a Conservative voter and I don't dump rubbish.

Mmm. Decision made by local councils not to collect rubbish for up to 3 weeks over xmas and an increase in fly-tipping of xmas-related rubbish.

Couldn't see that one coming at all....

I fail to see the connection between your statements in your posting since the council fails to clean up the streets/hedgerows/any area in Thanet. Littlebourne comes under Canterbury and I don't know what policy they have towards collecting rubbish but in Thanet anything bulky is expensive to have collected so without a car (or any concern for the neighbourhood) fly-tipping goes on. Perhaps if TDC's zero tolerance policy had led to the streets being cleaned first then we wouldn't have so much muck lying about the place. Your own ward, Cllr. Gregory, is a disgrace so why not try to get that area cleaned up and improve my neighbourhood and justify your own councillor's allowance? Perhaps your colleague, Cllr. Savage, could start by getting his own immediate area tidied up as the village green is rubbish-strewn week on week.

And who dumps all this rubbish? Not the council, its those scroats who live in Thanet and Canterbury

It's deadbeats who dump this rubbish but we have a council with total disregard for the council taxpayers in general and allow this rubbish to pile up. I'm fed up wading through mushy leaves, fast-food packaging, fags ends, drinks cans etc. Perhaps as 7.25 says, if the council cleared up, set an example, people might take pride in the area. Take a look at any area in Thanet and you'll see scenes that would be unacceptable anywhere else. We should remind TDC that they have a legal responsibility to clean the streets and remove rubbish.

The councillors must be experts on rubbish by now, after all, they talk so much of it; only Bertie Biggles can compete with them when it comes to talking rubbish

I don't think it is Tory voters who fly tip and are otherwise generally irresponsible with their rubbish.

It is undoubtedly Labour scum, and the people the Labour scum support who do it.

And I doubt it is Conservative voting bin men who can't be arsed to pick up the rubbish as part of their daily round, but drive on by. So a good bit of old fashioned Tory common sense is required.

i.e. Sack the bastards, and find someone who will acually do what they are paid for.

And the previous post doesn't come within your "offensive" category, Councillor Gregory?

That posting 21.24 is appalling and should be removed immediately. People's politics has nothing to do with this topic. It's their attitude that is so wrong.

Perhaps if the roadsweeper I spotted yesterday carefully avoiding detritus left on the pavement did his job properly we wouldn't be in such a mess. I didn't stop to ask who he voted for but I wish he'd do his job with some degree of pride. How could he keep walking and fail to notice the stuff lying around?

The post you two are refering to does not identify individuals or races, it refers to at least two political parties and has an obvious slant. That's ok by me, But it would be the same the other way round as you well know 0900. What it does do is to show that the poster should have stayed longer at school, and attended the english language lessons. That is not a reason to moderate. More a reason to pity and show tolerance.

Councillor, the offending post refers to "Labour scum", and says positive things about the Tories. If you feel that is a constructive and acceptable approach, then shame on you. If you feel it is an acceptable way of referring to those who would once have voted for you, when you were part of the Labour Party, then shame on you.

What you are allowing here is all that is bad about politics in Thanet.

Your deletion of my last post, which challenged you, is further testament of your unacceptable bias in running this blog. It is your blog, true, but your behaviour is why you are frequently castigated on other blogs.

I expect you will delete this one as well.

Lets get this clear, my rules, on this blog, of moderation, are simple. If an individual or race, or religion is abused, then that post will be removed. If profanity or sexual innuendo is posted it will be removed.

However, if words such as 'Scum'are used, I may not like them much, but I see them in use daily in the national and local press. Their use with in conjunction with a political party is, I will admit, near the knuckle, but on the whole, that is part of the flack that politics sometimes attracts.

If it were used in conjunction with the conservative party I would take the same view.

In a penultimate comment, I feel the post is useful, because it says more about the poster than the people who read and respond to it.

Finally, welcome back OVIT

How odd then that you deleted my last but one post given that it did not fall into any of your prohibition categories.

I'm afraid I don't understand your last comment at all.
