Parish Councils

As you all wait with baited breath for the end of the rumours, just think on this...... Monkton Parish Council take around £7k from the village residents a year. Of that over £3k pays the clerk! That means it costs £3k to spend £7k.

Is this value for money? how does it compare with Ramsgate Town Council?

I would think not a lot as Monkton is a Village and Ramsgate is a town.

Ken which rumours are you talking about?

Ken, This is common knowledge amongst those that are interested. You should also let your readers know that Monkton Parish Council is able to provide things that TDC cannot afford to provide.

So...what do you plan to do about this?

But, I am afraid they do not provide these 'things', They just talk a lot about providing.

Parish councils have no power and are a waste of money. I should know I used to be a parish councillor.

Parish Councils play a roll in very local matters and as a voice for their communities to the higher echolons of governance, like district and county councils or MPs. Lobbying from a collective carries more weight than that from an individual..

The use of such coucils depends on their support and the activity of the actual coucillors. Some are very good at fighting their corner whilst others are just talking shops.
